HomeSteam Treatment - Salon Di Marco & Day Spa

Our steam canopy uses a patented heat-circulation design that provides a soothing flow of steam and an even distribution of heat within the steam tent.  Warm, moist currents swarm your skin while you relax.

The best way to steam is lying down on a comfortable soft massage table so your body is evenly heated for maximum blood flow.  The head and neck are not heated during the treatment, and a cold wrap is applied to the neck, making it more comfortable and prevents the overheating that often happens in a traditional sauna. Because you are lying down (not sitting) you will get even blood circulation and deeper relaxation.

Special organic herbs or  essential oils, such as rose and lavender, will be added to the steam to enhance your experience.

Our treatments last roughly about 40 minutes, however, you cannot exceed 20 minutes of actual time under the steam canopy because of health reasons.

All clients will be asked to read, review, and sign an intake form. Please review it prior to making your appointment if possible.

The History of Steam Therapy

Since ancient times steam therapy has been used by traditional healing systems around the world to improve and maintain good health, wellness and beauty.  Turkish Baths, Native American Steam Lodges, Finnish Saunas, Japanese Steam Rooms and Roman Greek Bath Houses are good examples of how different cultures have used steam therapy.

Hippocrates recognized that by creating an ‘artifical fever’ (which occures during a steam treatment)  he could cure many illnesses.  It is no surprise that thousands of Day Spas, Massage Therapists, and Health Clubs use steam therapy as an essential part of their program.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Due to the increase in cardiovascular activity brought on by heat, steam therapy is not recommended for those who have high blood pressure, heart disease, or other cardiovascular problems.

Anyone with a serious health condition should first consult their physician or health care practitioner before booking an appointment for a service that entails a steam treatment session.

Steam treatments are not performed on pregnant clients.

Please review our release form  for more information about contraindications.
